The Stonewall Manor Community Association is partnering with the Dunn Loring Woods Civic Association and the Dunn Loring Improvement Association to co-host a celebration and a rededication of the Dunn Loring Park located just off Gallows Road.  This event will honor those who helped create this wooded oasis exactly 50 years ago and encourage more use of this wonderful treasure.  One of our own – Barbara Hildreth – will talk about the history of the park and the role she and others in the local community played in preserving this wooded area in its natural state for all to enjoy.  The festive event will also feature games and activities for children designed to highlight the various features of this park, which include tennis and basketball courts.  We have also invited the Executive Director of the Fairfax County Park Authority and our Providence District Supervisor to give welcoming remarks.

Starting from the left — Mike Reynolds (Providence District representative to the Fairfax County Park Authority Board); Iman Butler (President of the Dunn Loring Woods Civic Association); Ken Quincy (former rep. to the Park Authority Board and former president of DLWCA); Barbara Hildreth (former president of SMCA and original owner who helped create the park in 1975); Aimee Vosper (Deputy Director of the Fairfax County Park Authority); John Eltzroth (President of the Dunn Loring Improvement Association); and Phil Eskeland (President of the SMCA).
